Wednesday Word!
Hello everybody,
As you are aware, when in school your child receives the ‘Wednesday Word’ as part of their weekly homework. This is a weekly theme, reading and word taken from the Sunday Mass of that week. We would usually share these with children during a Collective Worship in school before sending them home for you to share too!
Good News! As we are unable to do this at the moment, the Wednesday Word is now available for you to access online. We would encourage you to access this weekly with your child as you would normally through school!
When accessing the Wednesday Word we advise you share it with your child, encourage them to think about the meaning and message behind what they are reading. Ask them to share their thoughts with you about the readings and the weekly word. Your child should have their Wednesday Word book at home that they can complete a task in as they normally would each week. After sharing the word and discussing it together, your child can record their thoughts about the meaning, message and what they may do as a result of what they have thought about. For example, if the word is ‘proud’ your child may write about something they do to make themselves or others proud. Dependant on the theme and thoughts, your child could, draw an illustration, write the meaning of the word, write their thoughts, construct their own prayer and much more! For younger children, they may find it easier to draw first and label what they have drawn with key words. For older children, they could write their own prayers, psalms, religious songs or stories based on the Wednesday Word.
Don’t forget you can share your Wednesday Word work on Class Dojo, we would love to see them and you can earn points by doing so!!
Please follow this link to take you to your weekly work sheet.
Please follow the link below for advice from the Dfe on helping your child to continue their education at home.
We hope you are all coping in these uncertain times and continue to stay safe. If you have any urgent concerns then please do not hesitate to contact the school via the school email address murton.stjoseph.rc@durhamlearning.net and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
